My name is Jason and I am 34 years old. I grew up in the inner city of San Antonio, TX. From an early age, drugs and alcohol were a part of my daily life. I started using heroin and meth heavily in my 20’s. I spent most of my time in and out of jail and lived in a tool shed. Two years ago, I became so broken and the drugs and alcohol were no longer filling the void I felt inside myself. I remember crying out to God after my grandmother died saying, “Help me.” I felt like my life was over. I clearly heard God speak to me as tears were rolling down my face sitting in that tool shed. Two weeks later I was on my way to Amarillo, TX to a Christian men’s recovery home. I stayed six months and immediately fell on my face returning to my mess. Feeling so ashamed for turning my back on God and feeling hopeless. I asked a friend for help and he took me to Life Challenge of Amarillo. I didn’t know what to expect but knowing I needed help, I stayed dedicated to the year and graduated. During that time, I was able to fill the “void” with Jesus Christ. I was taught to focus on the MIRACLE and not the mess. Life Challenge has helped me find my purpose which is in ministry. I am currently an intern where I am training in the ministry and helping where I am needed. Helping others get set free like I have been. God used Life Challenge in a mighty way to give me a solid foundation to stand on, Jesus Christ!
A year & a half ago, I was searching for hope, purpose, fulfillment, and truth. The void in my life, I filled with sin. Even when I thought I had it together, the missing link in my life was more apparent to me than everything else which appeared to be going right. The light at the end of the tunnel was fading quickly and I was losing hope that this life had any more to offer other than broken dreams and dark alleys. A year & a half ago, I showed up at First Family Assembly who led me to the doorstep of Life Challenge. My now pastor & spiritual leader, in obedience to the Holy Spirit, led me in. As I sifted through chaotic thoughts & confusion as to what was taking place, one thought was clearer than ever, God must be working. It’s been 19 months and the work God has done in my life is immeasurable! I am now support staff here at Life Challenge. A heart of obedience enabled promotion in my life. By the grace of God, I am able each day to apply the inspired principles and teachings I learned as a student here at the Center. I am now worship leader for my church and am privileged to serve the Kingdom. I wouldn’t trade the new life I have now for the world. I testify to the truth, for the truth set me free! Trevor
