My name is Shannon Underkoffler.  I am a graduate of Teen Challenge.  Over the last few years God has done a radical transformation in my life.  Going from being a drug and alcohol addict, living in my van, to the last three years being involved in full time ministry.  There is no way that I could do any of what I am about to tell you without the amazing, life changing power of Jesus Christ working in me.

Three years ago, I started serving full time at Life Challenge as the work therapy coordinator, working closely with the students.  After about a year, Brother Daniel asked me to start teaching Group Studies for New Christians.  This is something I never expected to do, but God has a way of stretching us and growing us as long as we are willing to put our full trust in Him.  After about six months of faithful serving, Brother Daniel and Sister Tracy suggested I get plugged into a church.  God quickly opened the door for me to begin playing on the worship team at Arena of Life.  As the months passed, I was also asked to help with the youth group, something I never thought I would be good at, but God did!  After a couple of months serving with the youth, I met a beautiful woman of God.  A walk of faith is hard to see what or where God is taking us, but if we continue to trust in Him, He is faithful.  I said all that to say a year and a half later we are happily married, plus I get the honor of being a father to a beautiful little seven-year-old named Avery.  God is amazing!  If all that was not enough of how amazing our God is, my wife and I are now the Youth Directors at Arena of Life Church!  I am currently still serving full time at Life Challenge as the Men’s Manager.  I use the very thing that the enemy tried to take me out with to help change the lives of men struggling with the same addictions I once had.  Sometimes I have to pinch myself because of the way God is able to take broken things and turn then into useful vessels.

My name is Jacob and I entered Life Challenge in September of
2017. I had once walked with God several years ago and knew
what it was to have Jesus Christ as my Savior. However, instead
of making Jesus Lord of every area of my life, I made compromises.
I failed to surrender my life to God’s will as I proceeded
to pursue the path of career and ambition. I soon discovered
meth and became addicted. This drug took everything from me and destroyed my life.  My drug addiction took control of my life, I became depressed, suicidal, and even homeless.  I have been at Life Challenge for 10 months and have learned that drugs and alcohol  cannot be an option if I am to be successful in life, and that this only possible  through the power of the Gospel. In morning devotion, Brother Daniel Spitler emphasizes  focusing on the ‘finished work of Christ’ as the basis for our hope, and how God
can make all of our past mistakes work for good as long as we stay on the path of freedom.  In my time here, I have served the ministry & community, played in a worship  team for a youth group, studied God’s Word, restored contact with my family, built new  relationships with staff and students, and have a solid hope for a life of increasing freedom  through my relationship with God.

My name is Nickolas and I am from Panhandle, TX. Before I
came to Life Challenge my life was a mess. I didn’t know at the
time but I was living a double life. I was working and trying to
be a father—meanwhile, I was drinking very heavily day and
night. I was in and out of jail and ruining my families life. At
Life Challenge I got on my knees and surrendered everything
to Jesus. I laid all my burdens down at His feet and asked Him to help to deliver me  from this mess I was in and He was more than happy to do it. He has been waiting for  me to turn to Him and rely on His strength. I soon found myself praying, talking to Jesus, attending church and loving it! The Lord has brought back my family, my kids to me. He is opening doors for me and giving me a purpose. I have hope again and I am happy to say that I am a follower of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
